News from the ‘new’ Furillen

After staging three Star Wars-inspired landscapes – Hoth, Tatooine and Endor – over the vacation period, Furillen will re-open later tomorrow as … itself. Or to be more precise, Furillen will re-open in a form that is closer to itself – i.e., the real location in Gotland, Sweden that inspired the sim – than ever before.

Signature features of the sim of course remain in place, with the emphasis recreating the ‘real’ Furillen in Second Life, as with the pier built by KT Syakumi …

Other landmarks that I haven’t touched include the two structures made by Megan Prumier …

There have also been some significant changes, however. Perhaps the first thing you will notice when you land at the sim will be the tree line, which now consists – as it should – of these beautiful, tall Maritime Pines …

Finally, in the northeastern corner of the sim – in place of the radio tower and house – I have recreated a cluster of small fishing huts, which seems to be a feature of the Gotland landscape, as these pictures testify …

As always, I’ve taken liberties in the Second Life version, partly out of necessity (space, scale, etc.) and partly out of taste.

This was a lot of work, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Furillen is a very special, unique sim, and I honestly believe that it has never looked better.

Oh, and one more thing – it’s now spring in Furillen …

Enjoy!
