Nobody really talks about what happens before Radiohead come out to play. Not just fans racing to the barrier and going nuts at the merch stand, but the atmosphere inside the hall itself. It’s striking and different, to say the least. First there is the dimly lit stage, bathed with ever changing patterns of purple light …
Then there is the ethereal soundscape in here, like Alban Berg crossed with something very trippy indeed.
The atmosphere is quiet and subdued – I’m not sure whether this is typical of a Radiohead crowd, a Paris crowd, or a combination of both. Either way, it feels quite unlike any gig I’ve been to.
Ever.
