I usually try to see a band more than once when they visit town, which often means seeing them on consecutive nights. Last night, performing their second gig in Amsterdam, Radiohead demonstrated why this is sometimes a really good idea. Their second night set contained ten songs that were not played the night before.
Here is the list, pasted from the lively reddit discussion of the gig …
Not played at Night 1*
1. Burn The Witch
3. Decks Dark
4. Desert Island Disk
5. Ful Stop
7. There There
8. Lotus Flower
9. All I Need*
10. Talk Show Host* (with awesome extended jam outro)
12. The Numbers (with laughter in the mix)
13. Present Tense
16. The National Anthem/Hunting Bears*
17. Everything In Its Right Place
18. Give Up The Ghost*
19. How To Disappear Completely*
20. Karma Police*
22. Street Spirit*
Listening to the gig through Periscope, it was clear that Thom Yorke was on better form than the night before, while the band as a whole sounded tighter. Unsurprising, I guess.
As for the setlist, the consensus on reddit was that this was the pick of the two. There was particular excitement about the performance of Talk Show Host …
Their next gig will be in Paris tomorrow evening, and I will be there. Although I won’t be at their second Paris gig, I will go to at least one of the London shows later in the week.
I really don’t mind which of these setlists I get, or whether it’s a mixture of the two. I’d love to hear The Daily Mail, My Iron Lung, Paranoid Android, Tinker Tailor and Weird Fishes/Arpeggi from Setlist 1 … and Talk Show Host, Nude, The National Anthem, Street Spirit and How To Disappear Completely from Setlist 2.
As long as they don’t play Creep, eh?
Or True Love Waits … (and waits ….?)
