As the digital release of Radiohead’s ninth studio album – LP9 – approaches, there is much speculation about the title and contents. The greatest excitement seems to be focused on whether the album will include True Love Waits, a song they first played in the mid 1990s, and which they have performed only live. Thom Yorke also made an acoustic version of the song.
Here is a bootleg version of it performed live …
… and here is Thom’s acoustic version …
I’ll drown my beliefs
To have you be in peace
I’ll dress like your niece
And wash your swollen feetJust don’t leave
Don’t leaveI’m not living
I’m just killing time
Your tiny hands
Your crazy kitten smileJust, don’t leave
Don’t leaveAnd true love waits
In haunted attics
And true love lives
On lollipops and crispsJust don’t leave
Don’t leave
Now that would be unexpected and extraordinary! I remember stalking the aisles of my local indie music store, waiting for the import to arrive that had that song on it. I miss those days; that song holds many wonderful memories. ♡
